Summer Reading Club- start planning

Registration begins June 20 and I recommend you register that day because last year our spots filled up very quickly! Each program has separate registration. So take a look and think about what events you plan to attend. Students in Vernon schools should be receiving a handout in June with this schedule. Our theme is Up, Up, and Away!

For Ages 6-8 we have the following events (parents must remain in library):

Angry Birds June 28 Launch into summer with some carnival style games inspired by the Angry Birds video games. Bowl, ring toss and take aim. Make killer bookmarks and maybe borrow a book to use them in.
Magic Show Wednesday July 3, 1pm-2pm Be amazed by magician Mike Norden.
BC Wildlife Presents: Birds! Friday July 5, 1pm-2pm
Live animals from the Kamloops zoo will be in the library
Float Away Wednesday July 10 or Friday July 12, 1pm-2pm
Enjoy balloon stories and make a craft.
My Little Sister Ate One Hare Wednesday July 17 or Friday July 19, 1pm-2pm
A glow in the dark black light show followed by a bird craft.
Trivia Challenge Wednesday July 24 or Friday July 26, 1pm-1:30pm
Compete in teams showing off your knowledge of birds, planes, superheroes and all things that fly. The winning team will duke it out to win a trivia game to take home.
Peter Pan Wednesday July 31 or Friday August 2, 1 pm-2pm
Shadow puppet show

For ages 8-12 Kids don’t need a parent present during but will not be monitored after the program so please arrange punctual transportation.

A glow in the dark blacklight show followed by a story and craft.

See the movie based on the comics.
Trivia Challenge

Read, watch, and compare.
Passport to Reading

Books can take you on adventures. Explore Russia with us

Wednesday August 7, 3pm
The lovable cat we met in books and newspapers will be on our
big screen.
Storytelling Workshop
Tuesday August 13 or Thursday August 15, 1pm-2pm
We’ll make a story as a group and then everyone will be given a
puppet to bring to life in their own story for the group
Movie: Watership Down
Wednesday August 14, 3pm
A classic novel presented as an animated film.
Warning: it’s about bunnies but it’s kinda scary.
Boggle Tournament
Tuesday August 20 1pm-1:30pm
Win some books by spotting the most words.
Movie: Harry Potter
Wednesday August 21, 3pm
The wizard won us with his books. Now let the film cast it’s spell.
Scrabble Tournament
Thursday August 22, 1pm-2pm
Show off your vocabulary that’s grown with all the reading this
summer. Win books by winning the word game.
Goodbye Summer Bash
Friday August 23, 1pm-2pm
A story, some games, and some time to chat and snack.
Kids who have completed their reading records
will receive a medal.
Costume contest, dress up like a character from a book.

Ages 5 and under

Storytime Mondays and Saturdays at 10:30. Parents please stay and participate.
